Good News
Two postdoc members left the lab early this year, moving on to their next steps, and I’m glad for them both. A visiting student is wrapping up his time here and moving back to finish the degree. Everyone else is doing well at what they should be doing. That leaves me as the one who has to keep up and provide stability for the group.
In Parallel
I have been lucky enough to take part in some genuinely interesting work across a broad range of topics. People sometimes ask what my primary field is, and I say “geology,” which is fair, but then if I notice a flicker of confusion, I correct myself to “geoecologist.” It is not an official classification you will find in our researcher inventory, just a description blurry enough to let me work on many subjects in parallel. Now feels like the time to do more of that with my students, since some of the recent members are finally reaching the end of their coursework.
